Oats Chocolate chip Scones are the healthy version of the scones perfect for cup of tea.. chocolate chip in between makes it more tastier. No eggs are used in this and buttermilk is used that makes the scones soft and crunchier in texture. This is one the recipe that I make every week my kids love these scones..In starting I used to make scones with All purpose flour then I wanted to make it healthy for kids so tried with oats it was a good success…they loved it..It s lightly sweetened and perfect for a cup of tea. Even you can add dried berries for a variation and make it to your taste. It’s very easy to make it . just needed the cold butter to make a perfect texture to the scones..
To prepare oats flour just dry roast the oats then powder it
Pre heat the oven to 200 °c .Line the baking tray with parchment paper..
In a large bowl whisk together 2 flours ,baking powder , baking soda, salt , sugar
Cut the buttet into small pieces and blend to the flour mix .Make sure butter is well chilled to produce the flakiest texture possible. The mixture should look like a crumbs.Stir in chocolate chips..
In a small cup whisk together buttermilk and vanilla essence.and add to the flour mixture.stir until dough comes together (Add buttermilk or flour as necessary).donot over mix the dough.
Transfer the dough to the floured surface and knead and roll to a circle with 1 1/2inch thickness.cut the circle in half then each half cut into pie shaped wedges(triangle).
place the scones in baking tray and brush with buttermilk and bake @200°C For 15 -20mins until golden brown and toothpuck inserted comes out clean.Remove from oven allow to cool...
Recipe Notes
Also tried making marbled effect by adding cocoa powder to the half of the dough and rolled out into a circle with layering either of the dough.

Looks yummy I’ll be trying them , I will be reducing the sugar by half , might even try them without sugar as my husband is diabetic and is not suppose to eat sugar. I’ll let you know how they turn out.
They look really soft and almost like a cookie. I just might be trying this recipe.
