Dumroot cake is a semoline based cake ghee cake with eggs and ghee..which is chewy goey sweet cake…
This is soft in center and hard and chewy crust at the top….The caramelised flavor is which enhances the tastes of this cake…. This is specially made in tanjavore district in tamil nadu..a traditiondl home based sweet among tanjore muslims…I have come across this sweet from my husband who has tasted it long before when he was dere …when he said about these cake I had no odea how it taste and to make…I searched in Google but I dint get any recipe for it .Then MIL gave this recipe she got it from her friend who is staying there I would say A traditional recipe…I gave a try to it and finally got the perfect texture..
This cake when out of oven will be very soft and have a feeling that its not baked well as they tend come out…but believe me It become perfect on cooling…You should never slice while hot allow it to cool that it tends to become hard and crisp…
- Melt the ghee and cool it.
- Add 2tbsp of above melted ghee in pan roast the cashewnut and keep aside.then add the semolina and fry it (donot brown it)
- Beat the egg and sugar well then add the condensed milk .,fried semolina, ghee and nuts .Give it a good mix and pour it into the greased baking pan and bake @180°c for 30 mins until tooth pick inserted comes out clean and top layer is browned ...
- Allow it to cool completely before cutting.
I don’t “have a microwave. So tell cooker type with tiime.how many mins heat the soil
wow its so simple but looks delicious esp with that crispy looking top

I just made this recipe but it didn’t rise and the semolina wasn’t cooked so overall very hard to bite…I followed the same Instructions.
Kindly advice..
I ‘m not sure what went wrong…maybe you might have over baked it…
